Cole Arthur Riley

In this episode we talk with Cole Arthur Riley! For those of you who don’t know, Cole is the creator and writer of the wildly popular Instagram account Black Liturgies. This account is a space for Black spiritual words of liberation, lament, rage, and rest. These topics are also woven throughout Cole’s debut and absolutely beautiful book This Here Flesh…which is what we will talk about today.

In This Here Flesh Cole weaves stories from three generations of her family alongside contemplative reflections to discover the “necessary rituals” that connect us with our belonging, dignity, and liberation. Cole is currently the spiritual teacher in residence with Cornell University’s Office of Spirituality and Meaning Making. We are so thrilled to be with Cole for this conversation and are so grateful for the deeply meaningful and powerful work that she gifts to the world.
