Dr. Patrice E. Turner - Ebenezer Baptist

On this episode Chelsea and Dana talk with the incredible Dr. Patrice E. Turner!

Patrice is the first female Director of Worship & The Arts at the historical Ebenezer Baptist in Atlanta, GA where Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock is the Senior Pastor.  For those who don’t know he is the first African American Senator from the state of GA!

Prior to seminary, Patrice received her Doctorate of Music and Music Education from Columbia University.  She has taught, played, performed and conducted students of all ages in various styles of music.  Did I mention she started her music career at the age of 3??  Recently, she appeared in Part One of the landmark PBS documentary The Black Church by Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr.

In this episode, you’ll hear Patrice’s talk about faith tradition and the significant role that music has played throughout her life. She’ll share her experience growing up and being a part of several Black church communities and the conversations that white people must engage in to address and fight systemic racism in our structures.

As always, you won’t want to miss this! And when it’s over, don’t forget to check out the PBS documentary The Black Church and check out a live-stream service at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
